Official Press Release:
Portland, OR-based heavy-hitters Drift Away have shared a music video for their track 'Where The Air Stands Still'. This is a video-only release; the song will hit streaming services on 16th June as the band unveil their highly-anticipated debut EP Chapter 1: Misery.
'Where The Air Stands Still' follows the previously released singles 'Haunted' and 'Never Really Here', both of which will feature on the EP. The two videos were released via BVTV, one of the most watched rock music channels on YouTube, giving the band a huge platform for their debut releases.
Vocalist Ernell Pearson comments : "'Where The Air Stands Still' is about grieving the loss of a loved one, how we choose to handle that grief when someone we care about deeply is taken from us, and how one can easily feel like they failed this person when they were still alive. When my siblings and I were mostly teenagers, we lost our oldest brother and it gave way for a massive chasm to take hold of our family, especially so for my younger sisters who were very close to him. When someone you love passes away, you have to build a better relationship with death in order for you to continue on without feeling like you could have or should have done more to prevent it from happening.
"All these years later, I’m a dad now. I wrote this song from a place of wanting to always do right by my daughter because that relationship with death has taught me that I could lose her at any moment. This song is a reminder of how my family felt back then and a way for me to tell myself to keep holding her close. I hope it can be a reminder for others as well."
