Catching Up With Riding Easy Records
In March of 2023, Daniel Hall of RIDING EASY RECORDS joined me for a chat about his label on an episode of Getting It Out Podcast. I've gone through waves of obsession with the SoCal-based stoner rock dealer. Whether it is exciting new bands or old undiscovered gems of rock and roll, delivered in full-length or compilation LPs, no one does it like Riding Easy.
I reached out to Hall just before our third anniversary with some quick questions. He swiftly got back to me with some even quicker answers.
In case you missed it, Episode 292 is still available HERE. Also, below all of this is a playlist featuring some of my favorite Riding Easy-released tracks on Apple Music.
It's been three years since you appeared on episode 292 of Getting It Out Podcast. Has Brown Acid fourteen shipped yet?
Oh yes, we have released 8 volumes since 14! Brown Acid 22 is about to start shipping on April 20.

The fourteenth trip release was severely delayed.
Using whatever metric you'd like, what has been the biggest Riding Easy release since we recorded that previous interview?
We have had a few good-sized releases, Fraction - Moon Blood, Granicus, BANG!, HOG, and Mondo Drag have all been great sellers on top of the Brown Acid Series.

Getting It Out's 2023 Album of the Year - Mondo Drag's Through the Hourglass
Did you release any records from active bands that you feel may have been overlooked or underappreciated?
YES! Dusty Rose Gang - A One From Day One is a SICK record that did not get the attention it deserved. Everyone who hears it loves it.
On April 20th of last year, you released the twentieth Brown Acid collection. Then, on Halloween came the twenty-first edition. For reasons I am not sure of, I thought the series was going to end at twenty. Obviously, it is not. Do you have an end in sight, or is the well of unheralded rock and roll eternally deep?
We are definitely rolling through 25 trips, but we could go longer. If they keep selling, we’ll keep making them.

Speaking of Brown Acid and the bands of that era of focus, you've put out a lot of reissues over the last few years. Are you finding musical gems easier as you've refined the process?
Yes, we absolutely understand the market for them. We have built an audience who is looking for them as well. Also, it’s much easier than putting out a new/current band; it’s pretty much done, we just need to make it and market it.

You released two Scrap Metal compilations, but none in the last three years. Is that project complete?
There will be another one, but they are not as frequent as Brown Acid, but definitely not complete!
You've been one of the labels to dabble in selling records on WhatNot. How has that experience been?
Whatnot is like the shopping network for degenerates. I love it. We are not selling on there regularly, but we do it a few times a year. I think it’s cool to connect with new people, get on and shoot the shit.
What can the world expect from Riding Easy Records in 2026?
New Early Moods, new Deathchant, new HOG, new Magick Potion, our latest signing Lauren Lakis, Brown Acid 22/23, Pentagram Live in 1978…and oh so much more!
