Minneapolis-based UNSTABLE SHAPES has released a cover of Rites Of Spring's "For Want Of", recorded live in their hometown at Icehouse MPLS. It originally appeared on a Bandcamp exclusive compilation called Escape To Weird Mountain Volume 11, which was co-released by Learning Curve Records and Forbidden Place Records to benefit the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee (MIRAC).
The band comments on the track, "Our musical tastes are varied so when it comes to playing covers, we draw from a pretty wide and deep pool of options. Our version of “For Want Of” pays tribute to our early emo roots and we believe the piercing guitars, propulsive rhythm section, and fiery vocals on this recording embody the raw energy of Rites of Spring while still capturing our own unique appeal (and a small nod to our hometown forebears Soul Asylum)."
