Huntsmen Cover Jethro Tull's "Mother Goose"
The first single from the upcoming Magnetic Eye Records Redux Series release, Aqualung Redux, due December 6th, has been revealed. Chicago's progressive sludge-doom outfit HUNTSMEN presents their heavy down-tuned take of "Mother Goose."
"Admittedly, we aren't necessarily massive Jethro Tull fans but had wanted to work with Magnetic Eye for a long time, so when this invitation came up, we were like... okay, what the hell do we do with this?", the guitarist and vocalist Chris Kang reveals. "Figuring out how to approach it was seriously a fun, happy, and rewarding challenge, and we decided to lean into two main things remarkable about 'Mother Goose': the folk element and the abstract insanity of the lyrics. We had a lot of fun trying to sing those crazy lyrics as dead-seriously as possible, as if they were totally normal things to say, like: 'and the chicken-fancier came to play!'. And of course adding a bunch of heaviness and noise was also very entertaining. By the end, we just had a shit ton of fun cutting loose and making it as weird and heavy as we could, and we all ended up feeling super proud of our contribution."
